Lanterns: it's our song

MAAAAAAN, I thought I was gonna hate this show and for good reason, It was too grounded, it seemed too small, too many curses words etc...BUT I was wrong. I will admit I was definitely side eyeing "Granny Lover" for a min, lol but I understood the direction as to why, through the power of story telling, I started to see how it was making sense. Hal jordan, a beautifully written character and Kyle did an amazing job bringing him to life. Making anger, annoyance, sadness stir inside me and teary look aways, something I don't normally do, for no reason at all! John Stewart, a man on a mission and never wavering from the path despite the obstacles. A troubled past granted to him on purpose for the sake of a sought after destiny and somewhat plagued by his father's own fear. Being the Rookie with a secret alternative motive while keeping his eye on his own destiny.

The show was very subtle and smart, there were some dislikes and some things I really enjoyed. The banter and love between each character, the reason why they had to do what they had to do, and the connections made with gestures of having a goal in mind. I felt that John's father should have been more present as the spear head in the show. In the black community the "matriarchy" has been the rise and fall for many generations, I thought this was going to be a great opportunity to turn "the talk" into something that sparks will power and fearlessness. It would have been nice to have a father figure teach his son to become a man with no fear and great will power with love rather than having his mother have all the heart to heart conversation and being the only parent leading from behind and cheering from the side lines. tLOL until that one day, lol.

The other thing I didn't like is that the ring wasn't doing any choosing nor could you "will" the ring to you from any distance. It seemed like the ring was not sacred to it's true wielder. Like MARVEL Cinematic Universe, the Black Panther, the heart shaped herb, could only work with a royal blood line and the worthiness of the one becoming the the black panther, Suri never got the power of the black panther due to her arrogance and stubborn mind, which lead her to use her smarts and wit to overcome certain enemies and foes until her brother returned, in the comic. For this case in Lanterns, everyone took the ring like Froto Baggins lol. At one point I thought Hal was gonna show us that despite not having the ring he could call it to him from anywhere. But without the ring John could Keep the bird alive not being around the ring at all. LOL and the Rings charger was made by apple cause it lived on 5%.

ALL in ALL Lanterns was a well thought out show with twist and turns that kept you on your toes, every event catered to the next giving hindsight and perspective a respectful meaning. Trust my gut when I tell you to go watch lanterns if you haven't, with that said I'll set it off with this lil homage to the show, I hope it matters...and I Love you Jr, till next time!
